Sticky Post
Each nation has different obstacles and different goals, shaped by the vagaries of history and of experience. Yet as I talk to young people around the world I am impressed not by the diversity but by the closeness of their goals, their desires and their concerns and their hope for the future. - Robert F. Kennedy

Three old friends from a different city (Peshawar) were visiting me this weekend. The things you need to know.

1) I shall refer to them as N, U and M in this post because they're very capable of googling themselves and ending up here.

2) N calls the vagina the Va Jay Jay because she is TWELVE.

3) I had to go to a surprise dinner for a friend (A) who lives here last night. There were 2 boys there, M1, my friend's cousin and M2, her brother in law. I thought M1 was very cute. M1 was short but M2 was very tall.

4) I dropped N, U and M at an ice cream while I went and had dinner.

A said she'd drop me at the ice cream place because they were headed there anyway after dinner. The boys come with us. Everyone meets everyone else, U mocks me and tells me to stop walking like a belly dancer ( I was wearing high heels AND I CANNOT WALK IN THEM. I HATE WEARING HEELS. DIE HEELS DIE.) very loudly and I am embarrassed but can't help laughing.

We get in the car. (As in N, U and M and me)

Them: WHO WAS THAT HOT GUY, THAT COUSIN OF HERS????

Me:
Wasn't he gorgeous???

10 minutes of screaming and girly flail.

N: He was so tall and dreamy.

Me:......um. Wait.

They were talking about M2, the brother in law. I thought they were referring to M1, the cousin, who was by the way, younger than us (YES I'M A PERV, SHUT UP).

N:
...Pashmina, how the hell could we like someone who looked like he'd just popped out of my Va Jay Jay?!!!

I AM STILL LAUGHING. Oh man, the entire weekend was just one sexual joke after each other. I can't remember the last time I laughed so madly.

I MISS THEM. D::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

We're talking about the new Dorian Gray movie which he's just watched.

Him: It's pretty terrible.

Me: I just wanted to watch it for the gay.

Him: No, it's very badly done and there's not enough gay.

Me: ....

Him: There was some going down followed by unbuttoning of pantaloons.

Me: Unbuttoning of pantaloons? *laughs hysterically* That's my new Facebook status.

Him: Unbuttoning of pantaloons. And some passionate kissing.

Me: *struggling to control laughter* Indeed.

Him:
And the guy playing Dorian was very handsome. Very, very good looking.

Me: Prince Caspian?

Him: Yeah. I mean when Oscar Wilde was writing Dorian Gray, this was the guy he was picturing in his mind. And getting off to.

Me: ..........I wish I was recording this conversation so I could post it verbatim on my blog.

He also made some comments about Prince Caspian's ass which I can't remember properly, but God, they were funny.

I caught my mom winking at someone in the middle of the day. That's how bad they all are.

But anyway, Khyzar and a bunch of my friends came over and it was fun and awesome and yeah.

:D

They got me a Sony Ericsson 350 (the black and purple set) which is just the prettiest phone ever. And Michelle got me Issey Miyake perfume which smelt divine so overall......seriously awesome. And they baked me a cake.

And lots of gay innuendo was passed around the table. Fun times.

I'd give more details but I'm kind of exhausted and want to climb into bed and not come out for a month.

Also, I'm still not studying. D: Fucking UoL has killed my studying mojo.

Because I am awesome that way.... :D......

I saw 500 Days of Summer today.

Okay, after seeing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, I had decided that no movie about love could be better or even in the same category of pure genius as those movies.

I was wrong. 500 Days of Summer is not a movie that can be compared to those movies because it has a sense of genius and beauty purely its own.

It broke my heart. It made me crack up laughing. It made me smile and it touched my heart.

The narrator in the movie tells you that this is not a love story.

It is. It's one of the best love stories ever told, made all the more beautiful and heart rending by it's sad and ultimately, real nature.

Long after watching it, you will smile when you remember a line. It's that kind of a movie.

Also, the lead's sister is just the most awesome little girl ever.

SHERLOCK HOLMES.  ♥ ♥ ♥

So much love. Despite the extremely silly plot, and rather bad graphics, that was one of the most fun movies I have ever seen. THE BANTER. THE FIGHTING. The monologues! The madness! The Holmes/Watson love!

*sighs*

RDJ. Just when I thought I could not love you more, you proved me wrong. My love for you knows no bounds.

He was so perfect in this. Also, this movie made me love Jude Law again. I haven't loved him like this since Music from Another Room.

But I didn't like Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler. I wish they'd gotten Rachel Weisz or Eva Green. It's not that I hate Rachel as an actress, I actually liked her in The Notebook. It's just, I think one of those actresses would have made Irene memorable and she didn't.

Overall though, that was an extremely entertaining, wonderful movie.

*bounces from love*

EDIT: PEOPLE. Have you all seen RDJ's Golden Globes Acceptance speech?????

BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE NOT, YOU MUST NOW WATCH THE MOST EPIC ACCEPTANCE SPEECH EVER.

I just spent half of the Firefly episode, Our Mrs. Reynolds staring at Christina Hendricks' breasts.

I am so awful. D:

Considering the amount of times I've wanted to say to men , 'look up here!' when they've been staring at my breasts, I feel like a real hypocrite right now.

She's so beautiful though. D:::::

MY SOUL IS ENDANGERED. I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY NOW.

Honestly though, these were fun to write.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the series that these drabbles are based on. If I did, I'd be sitting in a nice, safe country, drinking tea in a cafe and reading Good Omens, a book I am dying to read and cannot afford. Yes, indeed, I am poor.

We were having dinner at this amazing private dining hall. We meaning my family and Michelle. According to my dad the chef is a good looking guy who keeps having arguments with the owner.

Michelle: If the chef is actually good looking, one of us should just marry him. He has three female options and one male (*points at my brother*), whatever his preference.

F-listers who watch House, you know how it grows more and more slashy consistently and just when you think, oh no, they won't go there, and they do?

ALL EXPECTATIONS HAVE BEEN SURPASSED. I CAN NOW DIE HAPPY.

Let episode 6.10 of House be remembered as the episode Pashmina Khan bowed at the feet of the House M.D writers and pledged her undying devotion.

I can't remember the last time a tv show made me laugh and squee so much simultaneously. I actually jumped up and down from joy at the slash.

THANK YOU HOUSE. THANK YOU FOR INNUENDO THAT PASSES INNUENDO.

And the most amusing thing? Khyzar uses the same exact innuendo as was used in this episode when he makes jokes. I'm going to laugh so much harder when he says 'polishing our swords' now.

Which he does. Often. Usually in conjunction with jokes about a male friend/teacher.

*sighs from delirious joy*

Meme from Julia!

Comment with two characters I write, and I'll tell you about their first kiss.

Any two characters of any fandom I write, or even just shows I've talked about, even het and femslash if you want, it may only be a line or two, just the first kiss or it may be more. We'll see.

Fandoms areeee: Firefly, BoB, Generation Kill, Merlin, BSG (never written before), SPN (please don't make me write SPN incest, pleeeeeeease), Star Trek (again, never written before), Torchwood, The History Boys and umm. I am very sure I'm leaving a fandom out so...ooh, SGA. Any others that I have forgotten, you're welcome to give it a shot.

Also, instead of telling you about them, these are likely to turn into either one liners or drabbles.

"Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?" Grandpa said, "No. But I served in a company of heroes."

Why We Fight. Points.

They're probably the parts I've seen most often and I'm one of those people who rarely cry in movies (I've probably cried in 5 movies in my whole life and, shockingly enough, I have never cried in The Breaking Point. *ducks as you all throw things*) but somehow, my eyes sting every fucking time I see this scene:

Prisoner: Juden. Juden. Juden.

Liebgott: Jews.

Followed by the wailing. *just shudders* I don't outright cry, but I come as close to it as I ever can.

It's not that I'm not human, I'm just not a crier. If something awful happens in RL, I don't cry for months and then I have five minutes of hysterical, shrieking crying in my bathroom and then I wipe my face and go about my day.

They've done this series in such a heartbreakingly beautiful manner. Last night I was talking to Khyzar about The Breaking Point and I said the series could be disturbing sometimes and he said it was more beautiful than disturbing, and well, he's actually right.

I don't think that we will experience, in our entire lives, something as gut wrenching yet beautiful as Band of Brothers.

It's an Easy Company tradition to get shot in the ass.

Oh man, The Breaking Point.

That episode fucks me up something awful. And no matter how many times I see it, I always confuse some of the events with things that happened in Bastogne so I basically end up watching two episodes in terrible suspense.

Hoobler. That just. I remember it fucked me up the most the first time I saw the series and it's just as bad every single time. Worse even because I get more attached to him every time I watch the series. He's always smiling. D: Damn lugar.

And Toye and Guarnere. And Buck. Neal is so phenomenal in that episode....*shudders* His eyes.

Just when you think you're out of the woods, Muck and Penkala. *screams into pillow*

God that episode. It's probably the best in the series, but it is SO damn hard to watch. I think I skipped it in a couple of rewatches after I'd seen the series for the first time. Couldn't take it.

And then I watched The Last Patrol which I love a lot, it's amongst my favourites.

By the way, I never noticed this before, but Liebgott grabs Webster's bicep and asks if he's been working out! HOW DID I MISS THIS, YOU GUYS?

Also Martin keeps his hand on Speirs' belt! Heh. Didn't notice that either.

I guess what happened to Jackson just keeps me so enveloped in this episode that I don't notice the details. Joined the army at 16. Christ. I remember the first time I saw the series I actually held my breath through the entire scene. Jackson! D:

Now I want to watch Why We Fight but I keep telling myself I should save the last two episodes for tomorrow. Which isn't the best idea since I was planning on studying tomorrow. *sighs*

I'm watching Band of Brothers again.

I'd almost forgotten how much I love this series. It is undoubtedly the finest piece of television ever produced. Every single episode manages to break my heart. I just got done with Day of Days and....Hall. D:

I keep wincing everytime I see Toye or Hoobler (D:) but still, I don't think I'll ever get over how magnificent this series is. Especially since I'm watching it after seeing Generation Kill again. The contrast is so sharp. For one thing, there's barely any cursing. :P Generation Kill is an excellent series but you walk away with a bitter taste when you see what a disaster the War on Iraq really is. BoB while sad and often painful to watch is about, to use a cliche, the triumph of the human spirit and the ultimate goodness of people. At least for me, it ends up that way.

I always feel totally depressed when it ends though. Probably because nothing else comes close to the experience of watching it. Anyone else feel the same?

In which I sort of wonder if I'm adopted.

My parents have to be the most complete and utter fuck ups known to man.

My mother is a pathological liar and a total drama queen. My father is simply a drama queen. They've drove me fucking mental for all of last year as regards payments for college and just when I thought I was out of the shit and could concentrate on my final year, they've started pulling this shit all over fucking again.

I don't even know anymore. I am at the point where I'm so completely fucking disgusted with both of them that I don't even want to look at them anymore. All I want is to graduate, get a fucking job and get out.

REALLY DAD? I get that you're mad at my mom for all her lying but you do not fucking tell me you don't have the money to pay for my and my brother's final year of college. You sell your fucking Cartier watch and your fucking private car (SINCE YOU HAVE A GOVERNMENT ONE) and you fucking PAY. MY GOD, WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF PARENTS ARE YOU PEOPLE? They make me want to tear my hair out/murder them both!!!

In less angry news, Khyzar decided to get me a cell for my birthday. He talked to my female friends about it, figuring they could all get it for me together since cellphones are pretty damn expensive. Of course all my female friends started squabbling about it, how much each was paying, if any of them could pay more and one of them let it slip to me and the rest got mad about it. Basically they're driving Khyzar up the wall, and umm...I can't stop laughing. Now he knows how I feel all the time.

*laughs some more*

Instead of constantly changing my layout and watching movies.

F-listers who watched and loved Generation Kill or Black Hawk Down or indeed both, need to watch The Hurt Locker. The film follows a US Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team in Iraq and is tense, thrilling, heart breaking, amusing and honestly, fucking mental. One of the best movies of the past couple of years. Even if you haven't seen GK or Black Hawk Down (are you a moron?) you need to see this.

I also saw Avatar and New Moon at the cinema last night.

Avatar was PHENOMENAL. GRAPHICS. SIGOURNEY WEAVER. I was gasping every five seconds. The movie is more than 2 hours long and I didn't even notice that most of the plot was kind of ridiculous/cliched until the end. I WAS TOO BUSY SWOONING OVER THE GRAPHICS. Seriously, you lucky bastards need to go see it in 3D. I saw it in shitty 2D and STILL loved every second of it.

New Moon is definitely better than Twilight. BUT DUDE. THE EMO. I was laughing every 10 minutes. Jacob and Bella stare into each others eyes. I giggle. This entire franchise is built on one line.' I LOVE YOU. BUT I CAN'T BE WITH YOU'.  Make that two lines.SOB BELLA SOB. THEY ALL LOVE YOU AND LEAVE YOU. THIS ENTIRE RIDICULOUS TOWN. THERE ARE TOTALLY OTHER HOT CHICKS AROUND THAT YOU CAN BITE EDWARD, WTF ARE YOU DOING. And I don't understand why anyone would go after Bella when Victoria is around. She is so hot. My mouth was open the entire scene she was around.

Disclaimer: I have not read the books, only [info]cleolinda 's blog. And I got roped in because we were watching Avatar. I went with a friend and couldn't get a ride home, and well, she'd bought me tickets for both the movies as a gift so I couldn't really bitch about being made to sit through sparkly vampires. At least I could mock it through out.

One of the guy's in our group totally amused me after the movie though.

Him: I will admit, that Jacob guy...he was pretty.
